18 March 2024

Join us in a space and place to consciously step away from the stresses of our lives – to move away from busyness and doing.

About this event

PHEROZA SAHNI: PERMISSION TO PAUSE –

“creating a space for students to find their own space”

Workshop Info

In this workshop, we will begin by considering the effects of stress on both our bodies and minds. We will explore the function of the stress response and the impact of chronic stress.

Our practice together will be a space and place to consciously step away from the stresses of our lives – to move away from busyness and doing.

We will explore some simple practices that can help ground us; come into our bodies and into the present moment; focus our awareness through the use of the breath; release tension with gentle movement and experience restorative rest.

No previous experience of yoga is required. Please make sure to be somewhere private, warm and comfortable for the practice – with access to either a yoga mat or bed and blanket.

Biography

Pheroza Sahni is a Yoga Therapist, Yoga and Pregnancy Yoga Teacher, Mindfulness & Compassion Teacher based in North London. She has been teaching for over ten years and practising for almost twenty!

“My classes are open to everyone. I encourage my students to practice in a way that best supports and nourishes them, to meet themselves where they are.

“It feels like there is so much to worry about nowadays: the world is in chaos, we suffer with greater stress, we work longer hours with little support and are often busy and rushed. We often feel alone. Using a combination of mindful movement, breath work, awareness and relaxation practices, we are better able to support and empower ourselves. Simple tools help us navigate the messy path of being human – opening our hearts, and providing us with a greater capacity to be kind not only to ourselves but also to those around us.

“In my own life, these practices have supported me immensely. What I most love about teaching is the journey with students as they discover for themselves what it is that they most need. Through slowing down, and creating moments of space and pause, the ability to listen more deeply arises. In learning to trust and become more familiar with our heartfelt desires, true transformation arises. I look forward to practising together.”
