‘Building a Sensory Dreambox’ with Emily
An online workshop for autistic/ADHD women and non-binary creatives to build a sensory dreambox in an accessible Neurodivergent-led space.
24 Sept 2023
About this event
The workshop is open to autistic/ADHD women and non-binary creatives who would like to build a sensory dreambox in a compassionate and caring Neurodivergent-led space. Please note, the facilitator is Neurodivergent themselves.
Description
We will be creating a piece of art from a Box Frame, it will reflect our future aspirations and dreams. This gives us a window to come back to each day and engage positively with our future dreams; and successes. Emily will guide us through the process, asking questions that help to evoke our imaginations and ambitions.
Structure
This workshop will occur intuitively and be led by a Neurodivergent artist who will facilitate the session at her own pace.
Biography of Facilitator
Many moons ago, whilst studying Fashion and Textile Design, Emily Jane Handley stumbled across Art Therapy. As she learnt more, something inside of her clicked into place, as a means to a language in which she deeply resonated with. She studied Art Therapy for a while, however never made it to the finishing line. The teachings have stayed with her and as the years have passed, have helped her along her way. She is an artist and a sound experimentalist- constantly exploring and pondering ways in which we may connect and express ourselves. Because often we don’t have the words, or words don’t seem enough. Emily has now trained as an EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) practitioner. Her dream is to merge colour and sound into her practice. Over the years, she has noted; that one of the most important aspects of her creating, her future; is day dreaming. Emily believes the first ‘action’ in every creation – is the ability to picture where we may go next. And so the dreambox was born. A creation from her dreams – passed to you, to hold in it, your dreams. A window of positivity; but most of all, hope. Somewhere you can return to each day and look onwards to. May all your dreams come true.
