‘A Handmade Life’ with Maddie
An online workshop for autistic/ADHD women and non-binary creatives to explore the nature of their creativity, what helps and what blocks.
24 Sept 2023
About this event
The workshop is open to autistic/ADHD women and non-binary creatives who would like to explore the nature of their creativity, what helps and what blocks. Please note, the facilitator is Neurodivergent themselves.
Description
In this workshop we will be creating from the story of the Handless Maiden. Thinking about how our hands help us create, what can make us feel cut off from our creativity and how we can metaphorically ‘grow back our hands’ in order to reclaim our creative life-force and unique voice.
Structure
Maddie will read the Handless Maiden story. The focus will be on the underlying themes of the story, there will be space for reflection and participants will have the opportunity to respond creatively in the medium of their choice.
Biography of Facilitator
Maddie Millett is an autistic and ADHD ceramic artist who is inspired by ancient pottery, its symbols and patterns and their possible meanings. She is also interested in fairy tales and myths, which often focus on rites of passage and journeys through darkness and how these can relate to our own creative path.
